He also practices in the areas of real estate and wills & estates. As a Maple Ridge real estate lawyer, Lyle handles the purchase or sale of your house or commercial property and related mortgage financing, ensuring you understand every document you sign and are comfortable every step of the way. As a Maple Ridge estate planning lawyer, Lyle brings much needed clarity to the drafting of wills, power of attorney and representation agreements and concisely explains when each document may be needed to achieve your estate planning goals. As a Maple Ridge probate lawyer, Lyle eases the burden on the often-stressful job of executors and estate administrators by laying out the process and guiding you through every step in applying for a grant of probate or letters of administration from court.
Lyle has advised and provided legal opinions to strata corporations, strata council and owners alike on the Strata Property Act and Strata Law generally and drafted letters of demand relating to Strata disputes. Lyle has reviewed and updated the Bylaws and Rules for Strata Corporations in BC.
Lyle previously worked as an intellectual property lawyer in South Africa dealing with trademarks, and copyright law. In Vancouver, Lyle has worked as a Corporate Governance Consultant at Watson Advisors and was the Legal & Compliance Manager at Nurse Next Door (franchisor), one of North America’s largest home health care providers with now over 180 franchises.
Education and Personal Life
Lyle attended the University of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa where he received his LLB in 2008. He articled with Bowmans, one of South Africa’s largest law firms and practiced at that firm after being admitted as an attorney of the High Court in South Africa in 2010. After making the big move to Maple Ridge, Lyle successfully obtained his Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, whereafter he articled with 3 different Maple Ridge law firms. Lyle was subsequently called to B.C. bar in 2018. Born and raised in South Africa, Lyle and his wife Theresa have made Maple Ridge their home. Lyle loves living in and being connected to the community he serves. Outside of the office, when not running after his 7-year-old son, Lyle can be found doing some trail running or on the squash or tennis court. He also enjoys playing the bass guitar.
